A new Deal on the T-REX Platform always starts in Draft Mode. From there, the Deal can transition to Publish Mode, and move between Edit Mode and Publish Mode as changes are needed. A version of a Deal will always be available to view even if other users are making edits.

Read more about each mode and the relevant functionality here:

Draft Mode

  • Draft Mode refers to Deals created by TRA modelers that have not yet been Published.
  • All newly created deals start in Draft Mode. The User that created the Deal is the Deal Owner. The Deal draft will be categorized as one of this User’s Deals and can be located in the User’s Deals table, which is shown below as “My Deals”
  • If permissioning allows, other T-REX users can be given access to this Deal in Draft Mode and make edits to the draft.

Publish Mode

  • Users with the applicable permissions can move a deal from Draft Mode to Publish Mode by publishing the Deal. The Publish button is located on the top right-hand corner of the platform (under Save).
  • Once published, a Deal can return to Draft Mode but can be moved to Edit Mode for necessary changes.
  • Within the Deal, only users with specific permissions have the ability to move a Deal into a published state. Once a Deal is published, all users with access to the Deal will be able to view the published version regardless of their role. The T-REX Platform will flash this reminder before a Deal is published:
    • When a Deal is published, all other users on the Deal will be redirected to the newly published version.
  • While in Publish mode, most of the Deal will be view-only. However, all users will be able to edit My Reports, My Scenarios, and My Scenario Groups. Some users will have the capability to edit the permissions page while in Publish mode.

Edit Mode

Users with the proper permissions are able to click on the Edit button that moves a Deal from Publish Mode into Edit Mode. Edit Mode allows for edits to be made after the deal has been published. After making changes, the User should click the Save button and at their option, Publish the changes so they are available to all other users with access to the model.

Editing Functionality

Users are able to edit a Deal under the specific editing capabilities that they have been permissioned to have for the deal.

View Changes Modal

If a user makes edits and then moves the Deal to Published mode, they will see a modal display of all of the changes that were made before confirming the action:

Note: Edits must be saved before republishing in order for the changes to be included in the newly published version

Note: These sections of a Deal on T-REX will not show changes that were made:

  • General
  • Expenses - Expenses Frequency
  • Portfolio - Data - PDS Link

View the Current Published Version.

If, while editing the deal, a user wants to see the Current published version, they can click on the button: "VIEW PUBLISHED," and another tab with the published version will open.

Most of the deal will be in view-only mode. However, the user will be able to edit My Reports, My Scenarios, and My Scenario Groups. Some users will have the capability to edit the permissions page while in Publish Mode.

Revert to the Last Published Version

When a user goes to publish the Deal after editing, a drop-down will appear to Publish the Deal or Revert to Last Published Version. By selecting Revert to Last Published Version, the user will discard the last changes that were made on edit mode and the user will be redirected to the last published version of the Deal.

Note: If the User makes changes on the following sections of the Deal in edit mode and then clicks the Revert to Last Published Version, they will not be able to discard the changes:

  • Name of the Deal
  • Permissions Page
  • Documents
  • Toggling the Available in Deal Library
  • PDS Link

Force Refresh

When a new version of a Deal is published, any Users that do not have the capabilities to edit the Deal will be redirected to the newly published version through a force refresh pop-on the screen. The only exception is if a User is in the Portfolio Settings tab of a Deal when it is published, in which case they will be redirected to refresh the next time they navigate to another tab.

Edit Mode Notifications

When a user with the Edit permissions opens a deal in Publish Mode, and there is currently an edit-version open, or someone opens the deal in edit mode during an active session, the user will immediately get a notification that an edit-version exists and the option to switch to that version.

When the user is in the edit-version, they can see icons of all the users that opened that edit-version.

The QL bade above indicates the user with initials QL is in the edit-version of the current deal.
